Researcher – Forensic Genetics
We are seeking a motivated researcher for a full-time permanent position within forensic genetics at the Department of Forensic Sciences, Oslo University Hospital (OUS).
The Forensic Genetics Research Group develops new methods and analytical approaches for biological trace evidence in criminal investigations. Our research focuses on advancing DNA and RNA-based technologies. Current research includes studies of RNA degradation to estimate the time since deposition of biological traces, microbiome analysis for forensic location inference, and development of new approaches for sampling and analysing human DNA from air and dust. The work involves laboratory methods such as collection and extraction of low-quality or low-quantity DNA samples, PCR and qPCR-based assays, multiplex assay development, capillary electrophoresis and sequencing, combined with statistical modelling and analysis of experimental data. More information about the research group and ongoing projects can be found on the group’s website: OUH - Forensic Genetics Research Group.
The group works in close collaboration with the Section of Forensic Biology at OUS, a casework laboratory performing biological trace analysis for the Norwegian police and judiciary.
Oslo University Hospital is a workplace with great diversity. We believe this is crucial for solving our tasks in the best possible way. We want this diversity to be reflected among the applicants for our positions, and we encourage all qualified candidates, regardless of background, to apply!
