Nephrologist

Haugesund - Rogaland
Karmsundgata 120, 5528 HAUGESUND
Fast Andre legestillinger Heltid Søknadsfrist: 30. Apr 2026

Helse Fonna HF comprises four hospitals in Haugesund, Stord, Odda and Valen, as well as four district psychiatric centres (DPS). We have more than 4,000 employees who all work purposefully to provide the best possible treatment and care for our patients. Helse Fonna serves 19 municipalities with around 180,000 inhabitants.

Our employees are our most important resource. We place great emphasis on recruiting the best talents and do our utmost to ensure that all employees are satisfied in their work. With us, you will have a genuine collaboration with our geriatrician, who has many years of experience from hospital work both on the inpatient ward and in the outpatient clinic.

Haugesund is a city on the western coast of  Norway and is the regional center for 110.000 inhabitants. Haugesund Hospital is a general public hospital, located in the city of Haugesund. It is a part of the teaching facility network of Regional Health Authority of Western Norway.

The nephrology specialty is organized under the Section for Gastroenterology and Nephrology. The section has 10 inpatient beds (approximately 5 nephrology patients and 5 gastroenterology patients). In 2027, the inpatient unit is scheduled to move into a new hospital building, where it will merge with the endocrinology and infectious diseases units to form an exciting new combined inpatient ward.

Our nephrology section offers a stimulating and forward‑thinking environment with a broad clinical portfolio and strong professional development opportunities. At the heart of the service is a dialysis unit, providing high‑quality renal replacement therapy, including hemodialysis for approximately 40 patients and peritoneal dialysis for around 10 patients. In addition, the section oversees the dialysis unit at Odda Hospital and the satellite unit in Sauda, ensuring seamless and consistent care across the region.

The outpatient activity is extensive and diverse, covering nearly the full spectrum of nephrology. The section provides a wide array of renal medicine services, including acute and chronic dialysis, monthly kidney biopsy meetings, plasmapheresis, and lipid apheresis. This creates a rich and varied clinical environment that allows for both breadth and depth within the field, making it an excellent setting for clinicians who value professional growth, multidisciplinary collaboration, and high‑quality patient care.
