Haugesund is a city on the western coast of  Norway and is the regional center for 110.000 inhabitants. Haugesund Hospital is a general public hospital, located in the city of Haugesund. It is a part of the teaching facility network of Regional Health Authority of Western Norway.

The gastroenterology specialty is organized under the Section for Gastroenterology and Nephrology. The section has 10 inpatient beds (approximately 5 nephrology patients and 5 gastroenterology patients). In 2027, the inpatient unit is scheduled to move into a new hospital building, where it will merge with the endocrinology and infectious diseases units to form an exciting new combined inpatient ward. In 2028, the gastroenterology outpatient clinic will relocate to newly renovated and larger facilities, offering an upgraded clinical environment and expanded capacity.

We are looking for a dedicated and skilled Gastroenterologist to join our team. In this role, you will work both on the inpatient ward and in the gastroenterology outpatient clinic, ensuring a varied and stimulating clinical workday. The position offers a broad spectrum of responsibilities, including patient assessment, follow-up of chronic gastrointestinal conditions, and a combination of acute and elective endoscopic procedures.

You will be part of a dynamic and collaborative environment where you can deepen your clinical expertise and contribute to the further development of our services. There is a growing need for endoscopy procedures. The role is well‑suited for a clinician who values professional growth, teamwork, and high-quality patient care.

Work description

• The work will be clinical duties in the inpatient ward, and gastroenterology outpatient clinic.

Qualifications

• The applicant must have Norwegian medical council authorization as a doctor along with recognized specialization in internal medicine and/or gastroenterology
• The applicant must have relevant hospital work experience.
• If you do not currently speak Norwegian, you must be willing to learn the language and achieve minimum B2 level (written and spoken) prior to employment. The hospital can assist with language training.
